Rovers Return For Jay

On-loan Blackburn Rovers defender Jay McEveley will return to Blackburn to have surgery on his medial ligaments.

The 20-year-old defender will not be returning to Town after the surgery as he is expected to be out for the rest of the season.

 

Town manager Joe Royle: “Jay is going back to Blackburn at the weekend to see their medical team and he will be having his operation up there, it's quite normal for clubs to want their own surgeons to operate and after all, he is a Blackburn player.

 

“That is technically the end of a loan obviously and it's a real shame for both us and Jay.

 

“There is no doubt that he has all the attributes to become a top class left-back so for something like this to happen when he is progressing so well is a real tragedy in a football sense.”
