Town continued their run of poor form today, drawing with a struggling Brighton at the Withdean stadium.

The home side were in a celebrating mode before today’s game after being granted planning permission to build a new ground which should be ready for the 2008 season and in the early stages they looked like a team wanting to celebrate, managing to keep Town quite for the early stages.

 

Brighton took the lead 15 minutes in when Hammond fired in Kazim-Richards’ cross to give Brighton the lead.

 

Rather than sit back and defend the lead Brighton went on the hunt for a second goal and they came close to getting it on a number of occasions, Frutos testing Price from a free kick and then again from long range on the half hour mark.

 

Town manager Joe Royle then brought on Jim Magilton in place of Matt Richards and Brighton replaced Oatway with Nicolas.

 

The changes worked in Town’s favour as 9 minutes later they had drew level, Sam Parkin scored his fifth goal of the season when he headed home Fabian Wilnis’ cross.

 

Town nearly took the lead after the restart when Sam Parkin headed Darren Currie’s free kick against the bar.   

 

Dean McDonald came on for Adam Proudlock with just over half an hour remaining and Brighton replaced Frutos with El-Abd.

 

Both sides went searching for a winner with Leon Knight and Robinson going close for Brighton and Richard Naylor, Darren Currie and Dean Bowditch all going close for Town as the clock ran down.
