Ipswich Town got their pre-season campaign off to a flying start, beating conference side Cambridge United 3-0 last night.

Nicky Forster got his first goal for Town just 24 minutes into his Town debut and Dean Bowditch made a claim for a first team place by getting a brace of goals in the second half.

 

A near full strength Town side started the game with a much younger side playing the second half and oddly it was the younger side that increased Town’s lead, Dean Bowditch getting two to give Town a 3-0 win.

 

Ipswich Town starting XI: Price, Wilnis, Richards, De Vos, Horlock, Naylor, Magilton, Forster, Parkin, Currie and Westlake. Second-half team: Supple, Krause, Moore, Juan, Collins, Casement, Trotter, Garvan, Bowditch, McDonald and Haynes. Sub used: Barron.

Cambridge United Starting XI: Crichton, Chick, Robbins, Quinton, S Davies, A Davies, Daniels, Bridges, Turner, Maitland and Okay. Second half: Cesas, Eastall, Nicholls, Solomon, S Davies, Morrison, Quasie, Smith, Roach, Nadine and Fuller. Subs: Atkins, Lockett and Darler.

 

Next up for Town is a trip to Boston United on Saturday, kick-off is 3PM.
