According to reports on the internet, Ipswich town have offered league one side Swindon Town £650,000 for their striker Sam Parkin.

The 24-year-old striker has scored 72 goals in three years at the robins since joining from Chelsea, 23 of which came last season as Swindon finished 12^th in league one.

 

Swindon have confirmed they have had 4 offers from championship, with their chief executive Sandy Gray, saying:  “All I can say at this stage is that we have had four offers for Sam Parkin and we will be discussing the situation on Monday.

 

“I can confirm that the offers have been received from clubs in the Championship.”

 

The four clubs believed to be Ipswich, Norwich, Watford and Brighton although Brighton have since been priced out of the move. The deal Town are believed to be offering is £650,000 up front and another £400,000 if we get promoted to the premiership.

 

Meanwhile the striker himself has said he will not be rushed into making a move, saying: “I see some people saying I wouldn’t be interested in leaving London. That just isn’t true.

 

“I know offers have been received by the club and I’d be a liar if I said I wasn’t interested to hear that they’re from clubs in a higher league.

 

“Everyone is aware of the Watford thing but as a player you’re obviously interested to hear all the possibilities.

 

“One thing’s for sure, I won’t be making any hasty decisions about my future. Nor will I be pushed into anything.

 

“I’ve said before that football reasons will have a big part to play in what happens. It’s not all about money. I want the best opportunity to progress my career.”

 

Swindon have a large CVA payment due at the end of next season and selling players looks like the only way to raise the money needed.
