Soon to be Ipswich Town midfielder Jaime Peters says Town’s history of blooding young players is what made him plump for Town.

The 17-year-old Canadian winger had the chance to join the giants of English football Manchester United and Chelsea as well as some smaller sides such as George Burley’s Derby County but choose Town because of their history of blooding young players.

Peters: “I spent two weeks at Manchester United and was made to feel very welcome there, I didn't train with the first-team there but I spoke to all the players and Sir Alex Ferguson had a chat with me as well and asked me how I was getting on.

“It was a tough decision to make because I could have gone to Chelsea as well but after talking to my national team manager Frank Yallop, I decided Ipswich was the club for me.

“Frank told me how Ipswich bring their young players on and give them a chance and I've got family in London and they said the same thing, that the Academy here is the best around.

“I also feel that I have a better chance of making an impact at Ipswich and hopefully get in the first-team and now I can't wait for the summer so that I can get my career going here.”
