Why Scowie Was Loaned

Leicester City manager Craig Levein has been talking about why he has allowed James Scowcroft to return to Portman Road on loan.

Levein: “James has been a loyal servant to the club for a number of years and he has done extremely well for us.

“However, he is one of the few remaining players here on a Premiership salary and we would not be able to offer him a comparable deal when his contract expires in the summer.

“Therefore, we are allowing him an opportunity to move back to the club on loan from where he joined us and see if that can lead to something permanent.

“We are also then in a position where - if the need arises - we can use some of the monies freed up from James' loan move to further strengthen our squad before the end of the season.”

Levein has also loaned out another former Town man today, Chris Makin has joined Derby County so he can come back to Portman Road once more this season.
