Ipswich Town will be hoping to put pressure on league leaders Wigan athletic with a win against Neil Warnock’s blades when they visit Portman road tonight.

Ipswich Town will be hoping to put pressure on league leaders Wigan athletic with a win against Neil Warnock’s blade when they visit Portman road tonight.

Ipswich boss Joe Royle welcomes back goalkeeper Kelvin Davis into the squad after more than a month out with a back injury, but it seems likely that Welsh under 21 goalkeeper Lewis Price will keep his place in the first 11 with Davis having to settle for a place on the bench and he may be joined by either Scott Mitchell, Antonio Murray or Darryl Knights if Fabian Wilnis and Tommy Miller fail to pass fit after picking up knocks against Preston North End.

Ipswich manager Joe Royle has said: “Sheffield have a great away record and as we saw with their three early goals at Crewe they are a good side.

“They have dangerous players such as Paul Shaw and Danny Cadamarteri, who we know all about. They are scoring goals and they will not try and contain us as other clubs have come here and tried to do.

“They are typical of all the sides in this division inasmuch as they can beat anyone on their day.

“At the same time they have lost games they will be disappointed with.”

Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock has a doubt over Michael Tongue with an ankle injury but has Alan Quinn back after serving a three match ban, certain non-startes for the blades are Ashley Ward, Steve Kabba and Rob Kozluk becuase of long term injuries, Warnock will have to watch the game from the directors box at Portman Road after a dispute with officials in the blades game against Nottingham Forest.

Warnock believes that Portman road is an “intimidating” place and seems to be holding little hope of a result tonight despite his side being on a 7 game unbeaten run, saying: “Ipswich is an intimidating place and we have never got a good result there, even when we were 2-0 up and they were down to ten men a few years ago, we were still beaten.

“Bent up front is unbelievable and they've got our old friend Shefki, but we will give them a good game.

“They maybe slightly better than us at the moment but we are getting there. We have a lot of new players and a lot of youngsters. We are gelling and I think we'll improve over the next couple of months.”

Ipswich score tonight it will be a Ipswich record for consecutive league games scored in, the first goal against Preston on Saturday levelled the old record of 28 games a goal tonight will be 29 and a new record.
