Ipswich Town defender Jason De Vos is considering quitting playing football for Canada after being unable to play in the 2006 world cup.

Ipswich Town defender Jason De Vos is considering quitting playing football for Canada after being unable to play in the 2006 world cup.

Canada lost against Costa Rica during the international break and the defeat ended all chances of Frank Yallop’s side going to the world cup in Germany in 2006 the game may also of been De Vos’s last game for his country.

De Vos: “I am very disappointed with a lot that that went on during our World Cup campaign, we had some bad decisions that went against us and lost leads that we should have held on to and the end result is that we are out of the World Cup.

“Since I was a young lad it has always been my dream to play in the World Cup finals and now I have to accept that it's not going to happen and that's very disappointing.

“I will be 36 by the time the next World Cup comes along and at that age, it's very unlikely that I will be playing international football.

“So I have some big decisions to make about my future with Canada. I will sit down with my family and discuss the situation and also speak to Frank Yallop.

“It's not something I will rush in to and I will give it careful thought but it's fair to say that I am considering my career at international level.”.
