Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle is pleased with the progress that Town second choice goal keeper Lewis Price has made and hopes he will challenge for the number one shirt soon.

Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle is pleased with the progress that Town second choice goal keeper Lewis Price has made and hopes he will challenge for the number one shirt soon.

Lewis is currently away with the Welsh under 21 squad preparing for there games against England and Poland this month.

Price only his second league start for Town in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Coventry city and Joe Royle belives his confidence will be high, Royle: “His confidence will certainly be high.

“His penalty save was fantastic because it wasn't a bad penalty at all and he looked big in the goal all through the game.

“The last time Lewis played I told him his objective was to push on from there and challenge Kelvin for the first-team shirt and he has taken that on and shown he wants the top job.”.

Joe would like Price to gain some more first team experience and has not ruled out a loan move for the 20 year shot stopper, adding: “I would love to get Lewis out on loan.

“It would be great for him to get that senior experience and it would help him really grow as a goalkeeper.

“We have young Shane Supple coming through as well and he won't let us down in the reserves so we can afford to let him go out on loan.

“I am looking around constantly for the right opportunity to come along for him.”.
