No Deal For Dinning

On-loan midfielder Tony Dinning will not be given a permanent deal at Portman Road when his two month loan expires after Sundays game against Coventry City.

Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle confirmed this, saying: “I have had to tell Tony that we are not in a position to offer him a contract to extend his stay with us.

“He has done reasonably well for us but we must look to the future. There is money available to bring in one player on loan for a month and I can't use that on Tony.”.

Dinning added: “Joe told me this morning that he wouldn't be keeping me and that's fair enough, it happens in football, Obviously I'm disappointed because I have really enjoyed myself here but it hasn't worked out.

“I had a feeling a week or two back that I might not be kept on and after starting against Plymouth, the boss had to change it because Fabian was sent-off. I had no arguments with that because we had to get a left-back on and it worked because we won the game but in a way that summed up my stay here.

“I'll go back to Wigan now and see how things work out from there but I have really enjoyed working with the lads here and can see Ipswich pushing on and being heavily involved in the promotion race.”.
