Former Ipswich Town striker Alun Armstrong could be on his way back to the north east joining league two outfit Darlington.

Former Ipswich Town striker Alun Armstrong could be on his way back to the north east joining league two outfit Darlington.

Armstrong has been available as a free agent since being released by Ipswich last summer and has been offered trials and moves to Walsall, Colchester United, Rotherham and Bristol City.

Darlington assistant manager Mark Proctor has said: “We're hoping he will join us and we're working hard on it.

“His pedigree is outstanding and if he's fit enough there's no doubt he could be a major asset to us.”.
