Ipswich Town start off their Carling cup campaign against League one side Brentford at Portman road tomorrow night.

Ipswich manager Joe Royle has hinted heavily that he will play a weaker side with Jason De Vos being rested along with Fabian Wilnis, Tony Dinning wont play because Wigan do not want him cup tied. Lewis Price may play in goal in stead of Kelvin Davis and captain Jim Magilton may start for the first time this season along with Pablo Couñago, youngsters Scott Baron and Scott Mitchell will be played.

Ahead of the game Joe Royle has said that: “We want to win the game against Brentford and won't be taking things lightly, but we will make changes and some of the younger players may get an opportunity to show what they can do.

“There won't be wholesale alterations though because we haven't got the squad to do that.”.

Brentford will be unable to use loanee defender Michael Turner as Charlton Athletic do not want him cup tied, Matt Somner and Sam Sodje are both suspended.

Brentford Manager Martin Allen wants an improved performance on the bees game against Peterborough where his team lost 3-0, Allen has said that: “Well here we are looking forward to an important cup game away tomorrow night at Ipswich Town.

“I will be making changes and I fully expect more commitment and desire to win the ball and far better quality when we regain possession.

“As underdogs in this game it will be a tough one to win but I would be more than happy with a good performance that shows pride and passion, trying to do it the right way and if you have these things you never know what may happen.”.
