Midfield Problem Over

Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle can stop having nightmares about who he’s going to play in midfield with the signing of Tony Dinning, well that’s the theory.

Joe has said that: “We were desperately short of numbers in midfield, especially with Jim Magilton injured.

“Tony coming in has certainly eased that problem because he is versatile and can play in midfield and at the back if needed.

“We played three up front on Saturday against Gillingham simply because we didn't have the numbers to fill four places in midfield and it was a big concern to me.

“Now Tony has come in, filled that gap and provided us with some options.

“He is a player that I have been interested in for a while and I spoke to Wigan six or seven weeks ago about him. It was no deal then but I had another chat with Paul Jewell at the weekend to see if he had changed his mind and he said he had.”.
