Town midfielder Gavin Williams says he is hoping to stay at Town long to help the current crop of youngsters develop properly.

Gavin: “It's been a difficult period for me but I'm back playing again now and want to play every minute of what's left of the season if possible, it's important that we finish the season strongly because that will set us up for the start of next year, when we will be looking to really achieve something.

 

“We've been too inconsistent this year but we have a number of new players and young players at that and it always takes time to gel.

 

“But with the players we have here now and the young players coming through and developing every day, things are heading in the right direction.

 

“I'm very happy here. Ipswich is a great club and I am really enjoying my time here," he adds.

 

“There was a misunderstanding a few months ago when I thought the manager was looking to sell me but I spoke to the gaffer and he cleared it all up.

 

“He explained that he wanted me at Ipswich but that any player at our Club has a price. That's the way it is in football. It's the same with every club in the Championship and probably most of the Premiership as well.

 

“In a way it was a compliment that other clubs had noticed me but I'm certainly not looking to move and I didn't fall out with the gaffer over it either. I really enjoy working for him and the coaching staff and fingers crossed I will be at Ipswich for a good few years yet.”
