Town came out on top of today’s A12 derby, seeing off Colchester 3-2 at Portman Road earlier today.

The visitors took the lead after just 15 minutes when Karl Duguid was set free by Chris Iwelumo, just seconds after Town thought they had scored the opening goal of the game through Billy Clarke.

 

Town had hit the bar and forced Colchester goalkeeper Dean Gerken into a couple of smart saves before Alan Lee levelled the scores from the penalty spot after he was brought down by Garry Richards, Lee calmly fired the ball into the middle of the goal to make 1-1.  

 

Town took the lead 10 minutes into the second half when Sylvain Legwinski headed home a Gavin Williams corner although Alex Bruce did try to claim the goal.

 

The win looked safe when Danny Haynes scored Town’s 3^rd of the day and his 3^rd of the season with 8 minutes to go to make it 3-1.

 

But there was time for another goal, David Wright was dismissed for a handball in the area late on and Chris Iwelumo converted the spot kick to make it 3-2 but the points stayed in Suffolk.
