Roeder to Chopra: Make a Decision

Newcastle United manager Glenn Roeder was urged Michael Chopra to make a decision about signing a new contract or not.

Chopra is currently considering an offer from Newcastle, where he will still be used as a substitute, currently behind Michael Owen, Shola Ameobi, and another striker Roeder is looking to bring in.

There are a host of Championship teams interested, where Chopra would be playing first team football, and Roeder wants a decision.

Roeder said:

"Michael has an offer and I just hope he can make his decision quickly so that all parties know where they stand,"

"I would be quite happy if Michael decided to stay."

"Not everyone can be a ready-made Premiership and international striker at the age of 18 like Michael Owen or Wayne Rooney, they are one-in-a-million players,"

"Michael Chopra has improved throughout the season, he has been blooded and he needs to be playing men's football now. If he stays, maybe there will be an opportunity for him to go out on loan, we will have to see.

"He will be waiting to see what offers come in from other clubs. He is a good lad to work with and, because of his attitude, he will continue to do well over the years."
