As the two sides prepare to meet at St James' Park this weekend, Tottenham coach Martin Jol has paid tribute to Newcastle United's all time goalscoring record holder Alan Shearer, labelling him as a "living legend".
The 35-year-old Magpies' skipper will hang ther boots on his fantastic career in May, and will do so having spent the last 10 years on Tyneside.
Martin Jol: "I think he is one of the few people, like Ian Rush, who is a living legend.
"Normally you are only a legend when you are dead but he is already a living legend.
"I don't feel there are many better players as a number nine. He has said he doesn't want to play for England anymore but if he decided tomorrow to have another go, maybe people would think about it."
