Regular forum poster and season ticket holder Youngin's player ratings following the 1-1 draw against Aston Villa.
Given - 7 - Didnt have too much to do, apart from pick the ball out the net, and a sharp punch in the 2nd half.
Elliot - 7 - Looked ok in the 1st half, bit shakey 2nd, not a bad game for the lad.
Boumsong - 6 - Steady performance, maybe should have scored with 2 headers in the 2nd half
Bramble - 6- Didnt really put a foot wrong, sprayed a few decent passes, but a lot were more wayward.
Ramage - 7 - Growing in confidence with every game played, hope he stays, and whoever the next manager may be, sticks with him.
Ameobi - 8 - Man Of the Match in my opinion, caused Villa right back a lot of trouble, should have done better with the chances he had, looks better playing on the left instead of up front.
Faye - 7 - Good performance from Amdy, sharp tackles, good passing, had a great volley saved by the dirty mackem keeper.
Parker - 7 - No nonsense display from Scott, didnt play to his best of ability in my opinion, some good tackles, and starting off some fast flowing attacks down the right hand side for Solano.
Solano - 7 - Looked sharp, didnt drift in as much as his last few games, swung some great balls over for Shearer & Chopra, shame neither could get on the end of them.
Shearer - 6 - Didnt do a great deal apart from score the penalty, held the ball up well, but there was no end product to this.
Chopra - 5 - Tried his best, simply not good enough.
Subs:
Bowyer - 6 - Didnt do much when he came on, can't really rate him anything but a 6 because of that reason.
Luque - 6 - Didn't do anything really, a few lazy runs down the left, but 10 minutes wasn't enough for him, he needs more than that.
All in all, a better performance by Newcastle, still not good enough though, murmurs of Souness Out fluttering round the crowd near to the end, to be fair, the boo's at the end weren't deserved. Lucky to hold on to 1-1 draw, its a buiding block to Arsenal next week, where I have no doubt that everyone will up their game, and stick it to Arsenal.
Again, credit to Youngin for this piece.
