Midfielder Kieron Dyer looks set to return to first team action when Newcastle face Arsenal on December 10th having spent the last 5 days at the Olympic Medical Instutute to have his hamstring problems investigated.

Speaking to the official Toon website, boss Graeme Souness said: "Kieron's has been around here with no end in sight for him, so it's good to have a change of venue.

"I would think he could be in the running for the Arsenal game.

"Kieron's been down there for five days in the residential unit.

"He is being constantly assessed. We did it just to make sure our staff are not missing anything."

Kieron Dyer:  "It's not just about my hamstrings, the condition is affecting the healing process for me.

"I've had some good news as we think we may have come up with a solution."
