Robson: Newcastle PERFECT for Owen

Ex-Newcastle United boss Sir Bobby Robson has backed Micheal Owen to make a move to Newcastle, not any of the big clubs: Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea or Liverpool.

The 25-year-old England striker is now 5th in the pecking order at Real Madrid and has been heavily linked to a move away, with either Manchester United or Newcastle United his expected destination.

And Robson has stated that Owen should go to Newcastle, where he will play for a big club and get regular football at the same time.

Robson said:

"What Michael does not need is to leave Real and come to an English club and have the same problem.

"He will not get regular action at Manchester United or Arsenal but at Newcastle it is different."

"It is a big club, it's a great place to play - he would get 40 games a season which is good for him,"

"Coming on for the odd game, you have no rhythm and no pattern to your game. Newcastle could handle his wages and there are not too many clubs who could."

“He probably would like more European experience but for one year it is not important.

"He would develop his game again, it is the sort of club I would think is good for Michael Owen."
