He was linked with moves to Newcastle United, Liverpool, Spurs and most recently Inter Milan, but the Portuguese midfielders future appears to lie at Real Madrid after all. It was beleived he would move to Italy following comments from the player stating was interested in a move to the San Siro, but the latest comments from the former Sporting and Barca star suggest he will be staying put in Spain.

Yesterday he was quoted as saying:

"It's difficult for a player.

"I know I'm not first or second choice but I want to see out my contract. I will do all I can for my club."
