Ex Rangers skipper Craig Moore is believed to be in talks with Newcastle according to Sky Sports News. Ex Rangers skipper Craig Moore is believed to be in talks with Newcastle according to Sky Sports News.

The Aussie International (30) has been released by Rangers and is a favourite by Souness who tried to sign him when he was manager of Blackburn.

The news of Moore's talks with the club followed Newcastle's victory over the 2nd leg of The Intertoto Cup where Alan Shearer gave The Magpies a two goal victory in a late lead at St James Park to secure a Semi Final place against Deportivo La Caruna.

Moore himself said: "I'm a free agent, so there's going to be interest, but I've not agreed anything with any clubs.

"As you can imagine with free agents, there's a lot of speculation, but at the moment we're working to try and get something and England is the place I'd like to play next season."

Souness told the Magpies' official website: "We’ve had a conversation with Craig Moore’s people. Craig is without a club at this time.

"The chairman is dealing with it, but I’m not sure exactly how far down the road we are with it at this minute.
