Boro to Rival Newcastle

Middlesbrough have been tipped to rival Newcastle United for the signing of Fulham’s Luis Boa Morte.

Newcastle have been linked with Boa Morte after the sale of Laurent Robert, leaving the left-flank of the Magpies under-stocked.

It is now thought that Steve McClaren could bid for the Portuguese winger, as after the sale of Zenden, Boro only have youngster Adam Johnson as back-up to Downing.

£5 million is the quoted price for the Premiership winner, who only signed a new deal in January 2005.
