Milner Wants Bellamy Stay

Newcastle United midfielder James Milner has revealed he doesn’t want Craig Bellamy to complete his anticipated move away from St. James’ Park

The Welshman has been expected to leave after a bust-up with manager Graeme Souness, but finding a team who can afford the fee and wages is proving a difficult task.

Milner thinks it would be a shame as Souness attempts to collect a group of first-rate players at Newcastle.

Milner said:

"We've got Alan Shearer obviously and we've got quality all over the side really so if Craig does go it will be a big disappointment,"

"Last season he was brilliant for us and went to Celtic and did well but the players can't do anything about that side.

"All we can do is get on the field and play as well as we can at the weekend."

"I think we've got a good team spirit, the lads have had a lot to deal with last season with various things and we've come through it,"

"I think it shows the character in the squad more when you are losing and things are going against you than when things are going well.

”Newcastle is a massive club that should be winning things and should be higher up the table than we finished last year.

"We're all very disappointed about where we finished but we got to the semi-final of the FA Cup and went far in European competition.

"We had a bad week really and with a few more decisions, pieces of luck and suspensions things might have gone another way."
