With the Magpies' away at Highbury for their first game of this coming seasons campaign, and then home to newly promoted West Ham United, St James' Park boss Graeme Souness comments.

Speaking to nufc.co.uk, Souness said: "It's a hard game to start with, but you have to play everyone at some time so it doesn't matter when it is.

"It would have been nice to start the season with a home game, but we're away first and we'll look forward to it and make sure we're ready for it.

"I don't want to look past that game to be honest. To look ahead to the home game with Manchester United would be disrespectful to West Ham and Bolton who we play before that game.

"I'm just going to take each game as it comes along, I'm not one of these guys who looks at the fixtures and tries to predict how many points you are going to get.

"I'm sure the fans are looking forward to the derby games with Sunderland, they always have that extra bit of spice to them."
