Since taking over Newcastle United just four games into last season, current boss Graeme Souness has produced a mixed feeling around St James' Park. Some sections of the ground want him to be booted out, some don't want him here but realise there is nothing they can do but support the team...
... while others are willing to give the Scot a full season in charge before they judge him.
Former manager Jack Charlton is one of those who feels that the fans need to give Souness time.
Speaking to the Newcastle Evening Chronicle, Charlton said: "They have got to get off the manager's back and support him if anything is ever going to be won.
"Souness took over last season four games in and could not manufacture his own side.
"The time to judge him is the end of the coming season. That's when he should live or die."
One thing which Souness must do however, is to make the most of the transfer window. He has already off-loaded several players, and has signed Scott Parker from Chelsea. Emre and Figo could well arrive on Tyneside soon, while Souness is also chasing Van Buyten to strengthen the backline and is in search of a prolific goalscorer to bolster the attack.
Charlton added: "Football has transfer windows - and the only one long enough to buy and sell is this summer.
"Graeme has to do that now, create his own team, and take it into a new campaign.
"Of course Newcastle's a tough job. You have 50,000 Geordies packing the ground every home game.
"They are jumpy because a trophy has not been won for donkey's years. They become worried and angry and they can let you know it."
