Scott Parker has revealed that footballing-legend Alan Shearer helped him decide to make the move up north.
Parker had a choice between Tottenham and
The ex-Charlton man already mentioned he’d talked to Geordie-old-boy Rob Lee about the potential move, and Shearer also really helped sell the club.
Parker said:
"It was nice to be able to talk to him about this club and what it is all about.
"He told me it was really special to run out in front of 52,000 fans every other week.
"He did a great job in selling the club - even though it wasn’t really necessary.
"Although a number of other clubs were showing interest in me, there was only one place for me to go.
"Meeting Alan and listening to how he talks about the place made that decision even easier for me.
"I am looking forward to playing alongside him. I hope to prove my coming here is good for us both - we are both players who desperately want to win."
