Chelsea midfielder Scott Parker will arrive at Newcastle United on Monday for a medical after agreeing personal terms over a £6.5m switch to Tyneside. Graeme Souness ha sbeen showing interest in the midfielder for a number of weeks now, and appears to have captured Parker ahead of Everton and Tottenham.

While Evertone are in next season's Champions League, it is understood that they would have been unable to match Parker's wage demands.

Reports claim that Newcastle have reached an agreement with Parker and the midfielder is set to undergo a medical at St James' Park on Monday and sign a deal with the club.

Midfielder Emre is also a target for Graeme Souness, while rumours linking the club with Brett Emerton have been rejected by Blackburn Rovers chief executive John Williams who said: "We've had no contact whatsoever from anyone at Newcastle United regarding Brett Emerton."
