West Brom have joined Tottenham Hotspur with their interest in signing Newcastle United striker, Shola Ameobi.

West Brom had a £4.5 million bid turned down by Spurs for Freddy Kanoute and have now turned their attentions to Ameobi.

Spurs have reportedly had a long-standing interest in the 23-year-old but Ameobi isn’t keen on leaving Newcastle.

Ameobi said:

"There is always talk at the start of a new season but my heart is in Newcastle and I want to help United win a trophy."

Souness is not likely to let Ameobi go, as Newcastle only have 3 strikers, Ameobi, Chopra and the only forward on Tyneside who would usually start, Alan Shearer.
