Newcastle United manager Graeme Souness has been charged by the F.A for bring the game into disrepute ..............................
The following interview was recorded after the match after being angered by the decisions of referee Barry Knight which lead to Everton’s opening goal.
"We've had a difficult time with Mr Knight this season.
He apologised to some of my players in the tunnel before the game today for giving a penalty against Stephen Carr against Aston Villa which was clearly outside the box.
As you know that penalty put us 3-0 down that day and two of our players then got themselves sent off out of extreme frustration.
Mr Knight escaped that day without any criticism whatsoever and here we are again today, getting a bad decision for a free-kick against Boumsong when we were in control of the game.
You'd have wondered who the home side was at that point, but suddenly we found ourselves a goal down thanks to that decision."
Souness is reknown for speaking out if he feels that a fair match wasn’t played however its doesn’t always work in his favour. Its very rarely you can change the game once its over. He has till the 6th June to respond to the charges.
