Souness: I AM Committed

Newcastle manager Graham Souness has stated that he is committed to the club.

Newcastle have had a torrid season with Souness in charge, expecting to finish in the bottom half of the table, no silverware and no European qualification.

There have been off the pitch problems as well such as the infamous Dyer-Bowyer fight, numerous injury problems and the bust-up with Craig Bellamy. The season really cannot be considered much of a success.

If the Magpies do not reach 44 points, they will have had their worst ever premiership finish since the 1997-1998 season under Kenney Dalglish.

If they do not win 2 out of 3 of the last 2 games, they will set a new club record of lowest number of league victories since entering and if they concede 2 more goals, the most goals against record will be broken aswell.

Souness admitted it had been a tough 8 months but he was committed to the club.

Souness said:

"It's been an extremely frustrating season, as frustrating as I've ever had,"

"But it's not put me off at all.

"You do not get a job at a club like this if everything at the club is rosy.

"This season, we are learning what players we want to retain and others we want to try and sell.

"It has been a steep learning curve, but something whoever was coming in would have to go through."
