Inter Milan winger Andy van der Meyde has admitted he would like to move away from Inter and begin a new life in the premiership - preferably with Newcastle United.
Speaking to an Italian radio station van der Meyde stated:
“It’s true I am considering a move, I am not part of the coach’s long term plans a feel it would be better for me and Inter if we were to part company now.
“I have enjoyed my time here, but it is time to move on.”
When asked his likely destination he went on to say:
“I have had no formal contact with any club, but several have expressed an interest, out of those I would favour a move to the premiership and Newcastle, they are a great club and it would be an honour.”
Inter have recently been linked with a move for Newcastle's Kieron Dyer, so there could be an outside chance of him being part of any deal.
Kieron Dyer has thanked manager Graeme Souness for his support and backing, but admits that sections of the St James' Park crowd may never forgive him for refusing to play out of position under Sir Bobby Robson.
The Magpies midfielder said: "A few of the fans may never forgive me and rightly so because what I did at the start of the season was wrong.
"But I am grateful to those who have backed me.
"The manager has put a lot of faith in me which has boosted my confidence and the fans have also given me a second chance to be honest."
