Newcastle United full back Oliver Bernard has admitted he wants to stay on Tyneside, despite rejecting latest contract offers.

Bernard has rejected numerous offers to extend his contract and Newcastle have already confirmed a replacement for him; Celestine Babayaro.

Middlesbrough are said to be interested in the Frenchman, as are Juventus as he will be able to leave on a free when his contract expires at the end of the season.

But Bernard is hoping to reach an agreement with the club and stay for at least another season.

Bernard said:

"I know some clubs are attracted to me, but me I want to carry on at Newcastle,"

"Now I have to know if the technical staff and the chairman still want me."
