Newcastle have denied they are making a bid for 18-year-old striker Cicero.

The Portuguese forward impressed, scoring 5 goals in a training game but have decided that a striker is not the priority on Tyneside at the moment.

The teenager has returned to his current employers, Sporting Braga, where he as a long-term contract.

This is good news for out-on-loan striker Michael Chopra who will be hoping he can get a new contract now.

Souness will be focusing on his defence in January, not forwards as Newcastle currently hold the second worst defensive record in the league, leaving them in 13th place.
