Newcastle United winger Laurent Robert looks likely to leave St James' Park in January, and would prefer a move within English football, rather than move abroad. Tottenham boss Martin Jol is the latest manager to be keeping an eye on Robert, and is believed to be considering a bid. The 29-year-old French man told the French press yesterday how Newcaslte boss Graeme Souness does not like him, and doesn't even speak to him - making a move away from the Magpies' almost certain.

Robert has started just three of Newcastle's last 10 matches.

Martin Jol is believed to be looking for a loan deal until the end of the season, with the option to buy the winger permanently, should he prove a sucess at White Hart Lane.

Liverpool are also interested in the winger.
