Youngster Jermaine Jenas has called for Newcastle United to 'turn games into battles' and dig out the results the fans deserve. Something needs to be done, and fast, if the club is to bounce back from their recent dip in form. Souness has only one win to his name in Newcastle's last EIGHT matches, following a defeat at Anfield on Sunday.

JERMAINE JENAS: "We are conceding a lot of goals and that is the main concern throughout the side.

"We need to start being harder to beat and to start turning games into battles and maybe not football matches, and we need to start digging out results.

"We've got a tough Christmas programme and we need to stick together as a group.

"Already the gap between ourselves and the teams above us is too big and we need to do whatever we can to close it."

ON THE LIVERPOOL GAME, HE ADDED: "The goal we got showed the football we are capable of playing.

"At that stage I know I was thinking it was important to get to half time with our lead intact.

"But we didn't just concede one goal before the break, we conceded two, and that was the killer blow for us."
