Shearer’s Battle for Fitness

Skipper Alan Shearer is waiting for results of a thigh scan as he battles to be fit for the clash with his former club, Blackburn, on Boxing Day.

Shearer has been missing from the last 5 games and with Newcastle down in 13th position, they really need their skipper back. 

Shearer hoped to be back for the game against Blackburn but may have to concede defeat in his battle. 

Shearer said:

"I have had another scan and I am just waiting for the result,"

"I do not know when I will be back."

Craig Bellamy is expected back after having to pull out of the Liverpool game an hour before kick-off with a back problem.
