Another story from the Italian press. Corrie Della Sera are reporting that Inter Milan are chasing our very own Kieron Dyer! The reports may well have an element of truth in them, although Souness said this week he would be sad to see Kieron go.
Dyer was also linked with a move to Chelsea, but life in Italy could be the deciding factor for Dyer.
Inter's coach is keen on the Magpies' player and a source in Italy is quoted as saying: “We have sounded the player out about a potential move and currently we have an amber light, we will do everything in our power to turn it to green”.
Dyer is resented by sections of the SJP faithful, who will never forget his refusal to play out of position early in the season. Newcastle United manager Graeme Souness however, said "it would be a tragedy if he (Dyer) was allowed to leave the club".
SOUNESS SAID: “I think it would be a tragedy if he was allowed to leave the club.
"I know he's upset some supporters here and I can understand that because you must want to play for this club no matter what position the manager wants you to play.
"I understand why some supporters are a wee bit unhappy with him but I think he's learnt from that. He loves this club and wants to be here. There are not many Kieron Dyers around and we have to hold on to people like that.
"I hope he is starting to win them over. He is going to have to come out and ask for a second chance. I'll support him on that. Kieron has been the perfect pro for me. He's worked hard for me every day in training and he's given me everything and I've no complaints about Kieron."
