Souness: I Will Address It One Way Or Another

We all know that Newcastle's back line needs working on - and Graeme Souness has vowed to do something about it, whether it's improve the defenders we have, or bring in some new faces - but it has to be something better than what we already have.

Souness said:

"Ultimately it's up to me to try to get some defenders in.

"And if I can't do that then it's up to me to improve the defenders we already have here. Either way, the buck stops with me.

"One thing is certain - I won't be forced into buying players who are no better than those at the club now. People in my position have been forced into that course of action in the past."

Even before arrived, he knew all about the problems.  He added:

"The defence at this club was an issue before I came here and it continues to be an issue. I will address it one way or another."
