Spurs' Reaction To Carr Sale

Reaction from Spurs' as Stephen Carr agrees terms with Newcastle. The defender is set to join the Magpies' for around £2million (subject to a medical) and Tottenham Hotspur's sporting director Frank Arnesen is not too happy with the timing of the switch.

The Republic of Ireland international will join Newcastle (medical still due and personal terms still need to be agreed) after he declined to sign an extension to his current deal at White Hart Lane.  Spurs are selling him now to avoid losing him for nothing next summer.

Arnesen said:

"We've always rated Stephen as a player and at this stage we wouldn't have chosen to let him go. I respect his decision, I'll be sorry to see him go and wish him well.

"The club wish Stephen and his family all the best on his move to St James' Park."
