Newcastle United have called a press conference for 3.30pm where they are expected to unveil Dutch striker Patrick Kluivert as their latest signing.

Kluivert, who arrived at Newcastle Airport this morning, will join Newcastle on a year-long loan deal (subject to medical).

It is believed that Newcastle will have the option of making Kluivert's service permanent come the end of the season.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the man himself said:

"It's a great club with great players and I hope I can fit in. I hope in the year that's coming they are going to be in the Champions League. It's an honour to play for such a passionate audience."
