Newcastle Uniteds Link with Portuguese Miguel has been broken.

Benfica’s 24 years old was expected to move to Newcastle in a deal involving Midfielder Hugo Viana who is keen to go to Benfica.

However it seems the two clubs have different ideas as to how much the right back is worth – with his current team asking for Viana on top of a 4M fee.

"All I know about the Miguel situation is what I've been told by my agent, but it looks like he is staying with Benfica,"

Despite the deal falling through Viana is still hoping for a loan deal to the club, which he hopes, would see him play regular first team football.

"I know Newcastle offered me to the club as part of the deal but there is a chance that I could still join them on loan.”

This isn’t the first deal Robson is rumoured to be sorting which has fallen through in recent weeks. The Newcastle manager was linked with signing Hatem Trabelsi but again it hasn’t been successfully completed and looks to be left alone.

Also on Robson’s summer signings list is Danny Mills and Mario Melchiot.
