A new 5 year deal between Newcastle United and Shola Ameobi had been signed which should hopefully end the speculation that Shola is heading off to Southampton in a swap deal for James Beattie. Sir Bobby cannot speak highly enough of Shola, Once refering to him as 'our Rooney.

The Nigerian born forward who grew up in the North East will not actually be 23 until October yet has already notched up 126 appearances for the Toon, scoring 25 times and his nine European goals make him the clubs third highest European goalscorer.
