Laurent Robert has claimed that he will not be leaving Newcastle United FC to make way for Linked Striker Mido.

The Frenchman said

"Before my holiday, Mr Robson told me he wanted me to play those two years. That's good, because I like the club, I like the city and my family is happy there.

I know Mido and that he has been linked with Newcastle - the Press here in France say it every day. But the speculation is no problem for me."

Robert is keen to stay the duration of his contract despite rumours last season that he was unhappy playing under the management of Sir Bobby Robson and that he was looking for a move.

Laurent then squashed rumours that he would be joining Marseille

"I speak to Pape Diouf regularly and I think he would prefer me to stay at Newcastle. He believes I play better in English football."
