Young Egyptian superstar Mido has confessed that he would prefer to move Tyneside rather than to Italy, Turkey or Spain. Sir Bobby Robson has shown interest in the Marseille-striker for a while now; although nothing materialised the first time round.
The powerful-forward would be a valuable asset should he volunteer for the "Toon Army" and would instantly be challenging for a place in the first-team. He could also prove a replacement for Alan Shearer when he finally decides to hang up his boots.
"I am interested in a move to the Premiership and Newcastle have shown an interest in me," he said.
"I am due to meet with Sir Bobby Robson to discuss things soon."
Another goalscorer linked with a possible move to Newcastle is Southampton's James Beattie. He, though, has dismissed all the rumours and stated that he is happy where he is.
"I am happy here," he said.
"I am contracted for another two seasons and I am sure if anything did happen, I wouldn't have a say in it anyway."
