Carlos Daniel Cordone, who played for Newcastle United back in the 2000-01 season, has been suspended for two years following a second doping offence.

29-year-old Cordone was handed the ban after his second doping offence in less than a year.

He tested positive for marijuana in March, and this was confirmed with the B sample result of a urine test taken after San Lorenzo's Argentine league match against Chacarita Juniors in February.

The Argentine Football Association confirmed this.

Cordone was banned for three months last year after a positive test for marijuana in April 2003.
