Michael Bridges bagged a goal in black and white stripes infront of Magpies' manager Sir Bobby Robson during the week, while playing for Newcastle reserves against Hartlepool.

Bridges said:

"It was good to get a goal. I'd scored a few for Leeds Reserves and I've come here and got one finally.

"I've had just the one start but the lads have been flying and banging them in. I'm a bit gutted not to be involved but I understand the situation. It's just good to be part of things. They're a good set of lads and I'm pleased to be here.

"I played 90 minutes against Hartlepool and I need as many of those as I can get. It's nice to be back playing football."
