ROBSON BLASTS "MUPPETS"

Newcastle United boss Sir Bobby Robson has today blasted football's TV pundits, claiming they are "muppets".

Robson said: "Who are these critics? I'll tell you - they are muppets. Anyone can do their job. "They don't know anything about the pressure of being a manager and how to create a successful team. That sort of criticism is destroying the game.

"They are paid £1,000 a time just to have a go. When I turn on TV I see failed managers or someone who has never managed."

Robson added: "Football's a wonderful industry yet every week someone is being picked out on the strength of a few poor results. There is a reason why there are fewer sackings in the Premiership this season and that's because, by and large, the best 20 managers are working in it.

"Celtic's Martin O'Neill may come into the equation one day, but right now we have the best."
