Newcastle United's Hugo Viana has fired a broadside at Newcastle boss Sir Bobby Robson and has accused him of showing him a lack of respect. Viana, who is infuriated, feels that the Magpies' boss has deceived him and let him down.
VIANA LET DOWN
The Portuguese midfielder is angry at Robson for what he sees as going back on his word - regarding allowing him to go out on loan when the transfer window opens in January.
Hugo Viana is desperate to leave St James' Park as he wishes to secure regular first-team action in order to earn a place in Portugal's Euro 2004 squad.
The 20-year-old was set to return to former club Sporting Lisbon in January, but an injury crisis at Newcastle has led Robson to withdraw his plans of allowing Viana to leave.
Viana, who is infuriated, feels that the Magpies' boss has deceived him and let him down.
"Bobby Robson was not correct with me, I feel that I deserved more respect. I am disillusioned with him," he fumed to A Bola.
"He guaranteed that I would get many opportunities and yet I have played just about 100 minutes in 20 games.
"That is very little for the promises he made.
"I'd like it if the coach was more sincere with me, he was not honest.
"(Gary) Speed is playing very well, he has all the merit, but the opportunities that Robson promised me have not appeared."
