LUALUA INTEREST DENIED

Reading boss Steve Coppell has played down reports which have recently linked him with Newcastle United striker Lomana LuaLua.

He said: "Speculation is coming from nowhere. Somebody talked about Lua Lua and I've never even made a phone call about that player or anything. It's a bit irritating when you have to deny something that doesn't even exist.

"If there was real interest I'd be honest and tell you. I've got nothing to hide. I respect the privacy of other clubs but I seem to keep denying connections with players we don't have an interest in.

"I think our team is fairly predictable in terms of shape and those who are going to play. Sometimes you need something different just to throw on and change things.

"My mind goes back to the game on Sunday when Tottenham were 1-0 down. They threw a couple of subs on and changed the game, so a little option from elsewhere would make us more dangerous."
